Pink Eye!
My eight month old son, Buddy, had pink eye last week. No one else at his daycare had it, my daughter didn't have it nor did anyone else we know. Everyone said he got it from someone. Yet, when I started doing some research on it, it turns out he probably got it from an irritant. He's been on the floor a lot lately, doing his little crawl and scooching thing.... And of course no matter how much we vacuum and sweep and wash the dog, he's bound to shed anyway.
My guess is that he ended up with dog hair or dander in his eye and it went bad from there.
What boggles me is that if it's caused by an irritation, how can that then turn into enemy number one!? Apparently, pink eye is very contagious! So, everyone fears it.
I used to think that pink eye was a peasant's disease due to dirty hand and animal handling. Until I had kids, I had never even known anyone who knew someone who had it. Now I learn that it's a kid thing and they get it all the time! Argh! So, the day after he "got it" I used an entire container of Clorox wipes disinfecting ALL the toys in the house. I did six loads of laundry. I even took the dog to the groomers so no one else got infected.
I'm happy to report that so far so good... but it doesn't mean he can't get it again... so now, he's not allowed on the floor in the first floor of the house. He's been limited to the pack-n-play. You can imagine how that's going over...
I'll be happy if I never seen pink eye again! Pun intended!
