The US Postal Service Goes Green

I read a newswire about a great way for consumers to recycle obsolete small electronics and ink cartridges.  The US Postal Service (USPS) teamed up with the Clover Technologies Group to launch this pilot.  1,500 Post Offices in 10 areas across the country including Washington DC, Chicago, LA, and San Diego are involved.

Basically, the Post Office is providing postage-paid "Mail Back" envelopes. There is no limit to the number of envelopes you can take.  Old cell phones, PDAs, digital cameras, IPods, MP3 players, ink cartridges; you name it.  Clover Technologies Group pays for the postage.  Then, this nationally known company recycles all the components of these items.  The USPS chose Clover Technologies Group for this venture over 19 others due to their "zero waste to landfill" policy.

If this pilot is successful, it could become a national program.

Maybe the USPS logo wouldn't look so bad green instead of blue...
