Criss-cross Apple Sauce
Remember when we were growing up? We used to sit Indian Style on the floor? And the Woodsman cut open the big bad wolf to let Little Red Riding Hood's Grandma out?
It seem that nowadays we are too PC. Now kids sit Criss-Cross Apple Sauce - what the heck does that mean anyway?
And now the Woodsman chases the wolf into a river, never to be heard from again. Then grandma comes out of hiding.
The way I see it is, it's all an experiment. We try something new with each generation, to see how that works, then we re-evaluate.
Way back in the good 'ol days they used to tell you that smoking was good for you! And they sold you tonics with alcohol and cocaine in them out in the streets!
A generation later it changed to "smoking is NOT so good for you." And neither is alcohol or cocaine!
We don't use the term "Indian Style" anymore because we don't want to offend. But, it's just a term, how is that offensive?
I am a hair over five feet tall. That makes me short or vertically challenged. How is that less offensive? It still means the same thing, just different words!
I could go on and on, but I'll spare you.
I feel like in the time that I grew-up and had my kids, the world changed and I missed it. Now, I have to re-learn the language, the customs, and culture. Now I know how my grandmother must've felt!
Post a PC thing that drives you batty and enjoy your minute of vertically challenged fame!
