Daily Bloggy Memes

Edited

I have been participating in Wordless Wednesday for some time now.  I do it because it's nice to just post a picture and not have to blog for a day (although, sometimes I tend to blog anyway).  I do it for the traffic I get to my site.  And I do it because it makes me view things differently; it keeps me and my camera on my toes.

The other day, while I was surfing the blogosphere, I discovered an entire world of Memes.  I decided I needed to share this information with you.

Along with WW, I also knew about Thursday Thirteen.  In my opinion, that requires way too much thinking - I couldn't sanely participate in that.

But then I discovered that there is at least one (if not more) "themes" or memes out there for each day of the week!?!

Would I joke about such a thing?

Here is what I found:

Fun Monday, which is hosted by a different blogger each week, is a "loosely-held meme," usually dictated by the host.  You never know who the host is going to be from week to week.  So, it gets carried around everywhere.  That is the fun part.  I post a button on my sidebar with the current Fun Monday host.  Check it out!

I stumbled onto Blue Monday.  This is easy and fun!  It's hosted by Smiling Sally.  All she asks is that you post something blue and link back to her site with the Blue Monday button.  The blue can be pretty, ugly, funny, old, or new, as long as it is blue.  She got the idea from Beverly at How Sweet the Sounds who does a Pink Saturday (see below for info on that meme).

NEW Temp My Tummy Tuesday is hosted by Lisa at Blessed with Grace and her sister Lana at Lana Right Here... Right Now.  For this meme, you can share recipes, kitchen and cooking tips, restaurant review, and anything food related that you have to share.

Head or Tails Tuesday is quirky but can be fun.  Essentially, it's a play on words.

On June 10th the word was "Flower" and it was Heads.  That means you could "post" anything you wanted as long as it contained "flower" in it; a poem, a picture, a story, whatever.  But if it had been Tails then you had to do what was specified, such as "share a story about Tulips."  What's neat about this one is that the themes are already laid out for you, at least two month's in advance.  So you can start writing a good one now for a post in September!  Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing?!

Kitchen Tip Tuesday is hosted by Tammy's Recipes.  This meme is great.  I've learned many great tips about food storage, cooking, and the kitchen in general.  If you have any good tips to share, this meme is for you!

NEW Bloomin Tuesday, started by Jean is for you to post what's in your garden... every Tuesday.  That's it, there are no rules.  Grab the button and link up to Mr. Linky.

Wordless Wednesday speaks for itself.  It's supposed to be wordless.  Many people take this opportunity to post fun photos.   Some people even post "guess what it is" shots.

Thematic Photographic is a meme created by Carmi at Written Inc.  Every Wednesday evening he posts a new theme.  Your job is to represent that theme with your camera.

Thirteen Thursday is to list thirteen things about yourself or to summarize your week in one entry (of 13 items).  This one is a bit involved.  Code is required in order to maintain the T13 format.  There is also a forum on the website that allows you to chat with other participants.  The purpose is to make bloggy friends.

NEW Boggle Me Thursday.  How could I forget to add my own meme?  Do you know how much I love Boggle?!?  Enough to start a meme.  All you have to do is play along and post the words you found on your blog.  Grab the button and sign up in the comments.  There are no winners or losers, it's just to sharpen up our skills.

Skywatch Friday is similar to WW, except that it's sky specific (and on Friday!).  It's purpose, "to enjoy Skies and views from all around the globe."  It's origin was here, but due to it's popularity, it had to get it's own site, here.

Pay It Forward Friday seemed like a fairly new concept.  True to it's title, it's for featuring a blog that you like on your blog in hopes that they someone will return the favor and post your blog.  This is a great way to discover new blogs that someone else already did all the research on.  The host has lost hope for this meme so if you have any interest in it, I suggest you let her know so she'll bring it back!

Haiku Friday is very poetic.  You have to write a poem, in Haiku.  So, if you enjoy the poetry, this site is great for linking to others with the same interest.

Friday's 40 or less photo challenge is also worth mentioning.  This meme is hosted by the originator of Fun Monday.  Pensieve posts a picture early on Wednesday morning.  Then, based on that picture, participants write, in 40 words or syllables or less; it may be a caption, a title, a post, or a poem.

Friday Fillins is fun!.  It's an electronic Mad Lib, if you will.  Janet, the blog owner, makes a up Mad Lib and posts it up on Thursday.  It is your job to fill in the blanks on your Friday Fillins post.

I am still looking for the host of Flashback Friday - so stay tuned.

Raven's Saturday Wordzzle Challenge is a lot of fun.  I really enjoy this one.  Raven comes up with 10 random words for the 10 word challenge and also 5 words for the mini challenge.  Your job is to weave the words into coherent sense.  Many of the participants end up writing stories.  It helps the creative juices.  If 10 words is too much, you can opt for the mini challenge.  Some people, like to use all 15 words in one post!

Smiley Saturday is all about smiles.  Anything that makes you smile is permitted.

Pink Saturday is hosted by Beverly at How Sweet the Sound.  This is the same idea as Blue Monday.  Post something pink on our blog, link it back to How Sweet the Sound and visit other Pink Saturday participants.  Easy and Fun!

Slice of Life Sunday is meant for sharing just that, a slice of your life.  The request is for candor, truthfulness, and introspection.

Unconscious Mutterings is hosted by Luna Nina.  A new post goes up on Sunday but you can play any day of the week.  This meme is a "free association" exercise.  She says, you think... is the premise.  It's really addictive, give it a try.

Brand NEW Meme  It's called Sunday's Meme, SUNrise SUNset and it's easy.  You just post your own photo of a sunrise or a sunset, you link to this site, copy the button to your post, and check out other posts doing the same meme.

I'm here through the links on Fun Monday [glad to hear you'll be hosting next week too!] And I just read your 'meme' post. I've participated in most all of them at one time or another, also, Sunday's Unconscious Mutterings are fun. The host gives us words and we're to associate with the first word[s] that come to mind. And on Friday, I love Show n Tell! This is where you take photos/ and or/ write about what you have shared. Just like the 'olden days' of school where you got to bring something and show and tell in front of the class. I like this one a lot 'cause I can not only view some great things, I also use this as something that may give me my own ideas of something they shared.

Nice! I had been wondering what other memes existed on different days. I participate in WW and TT, but hadn't heard of most of the others. Thanks for sharing them!

I may have to try Smiley Saturday. That sounds like it would be a really nice weekly post

I participate in many (but not all) of these memes … and a few others (Camera Critters, Unconscious Mutterings, Thursday Thirteen, Haiku Fridays, Photo Hunt, Blog Your Blessings on Sunday, and One Single Impression come to mind) . It’s a fun way to meet new bloggers, but certainly keeps me busy.
    Hugs and blessings,

Great list. I am in love with Mr. Linky, so I invited him over to my blog. We're going to play 'Pause to...' occasionally. We'll pause to do something, think about something, write about something, remember something, or whatever. Our first Pause will be next week. We'll Pause to Accommodate. Want to Pause?
