Smoke signals

Isn't the smoke signal effect amazing? This is the sun setting on Friday evening as I was driving around picking up the kids. Being that we live in a sprawling suburb, it is nearly impossible to get a clear shot of the sunset without electrical wires, buildings, or other city-like objects blocking the view. The first picture (left) I took while sitting at a red light. For the second one, like a tornado hound, I followed the setting sun behind some industrial buildings.
There, I was able to pull over and take this shot.
Being that the earth is not still, where it sets changes constantly.
I've taken it as a challenge to find a spot that is uncluttered by "city" to take a good shot.
I like to call it "Sunset Hunting!"

Lovely pictures. I should have thought of "knocks at door" It's funny what you think of afterward.

What gorgeous photos! Around here, it's usually too smoggy to get good sunset shots. Yours are really beautiful.

Wow. Your Mutterings link brought me to last week's (this post) but I'm glad about that because otherwise I may not have seen your pics here.
Even with the man-made objects in Pic 2, what a gorgeous shot!!!!! I like the whispyness of Pic 1, as well. We may not want wires like that in our pics but they're part our lives.
I came for Mutterings of the 14th, I commented on the pics from the 6th but such is life sometimes
Merry Christmas!
