Setting Him Straight
Buddy's been talking a lot lately. He says lots of things. Sometimes it's gibberish, but sometimes it's coherent words. Words that describe things. Words that mean something to him, like baby and lawnmower, and shoes, and downstairs. Of course, they don't all sound like they should, but he gets his point across. We understand him.
Recently, we collectively noticed that he is able to say Daddy correctly but that he says "ghore" for door. So, the other night, while I was putting him to bed, I decided to work on it with him. I thought I would set him straight.
I said, Buddy, say Daddy. He said, Daddy.
Say door. He said ghore.
Say dddddd-daddy. He said, ddddd-daddy.
I said, say, ddddd-door. He paused, then said ddddd-ghore.
And then he looked at me and laughed.
Who set whom straight?
Dammit, Gumby!
