Rub it in, won't ya?
HEADS - "One"
*or*
TAILS - "Won"
On Saturday it snowed. For eight hours straight!
It was our first snow. The kids were really excited about it. They kept asking to go out in it and I kept saying later, later.
Secretly, I was wishing Hubs would come home early from work. Even more secretly, I just wanted to curl up in bed and watch TV.
So, we waited.
The snow kept falling. Finally, Hubs came home but it was already dusk and the temperature had started dropping. By then it was too late to go play in the snow. By the next day, the snow was covered in a typical layer of ice and was no longer good for playing in.

BG cried. Buddy dutifully balked but didn't really care either way.
Truth be told, I was absolutely exhausted. Not a single inch of me had any desire to dress kids up from head to toe in snow gear only to have them get snow inside them anyway. To chase after them outside to make sure they didn't run out into the street since there was no strong delineation between grass and sidewalk. To then undress them before they were frozen solid and quickly warm them up, praying all the while that such activity didn't weaken their immune systems down to cold status.
Sunday came and went and the kids didn't mention it again. Buddy had spent Saturday sleeping anyway, and BG and I watched the movie UP for the first time so she was on cloud nine. We had bought it a few weeks prior but hadn't watched it yet.
I thought the whole snow thing was behind me. Until I took BG to school on Monday. The first words out of her teacher's mouth were, "Did you make a snowman in the snow?"
BG's answer quickly translated her teacher's cursory glance in my direction into a silent "What kinda bad parent are you?!" reproach.
So, put me down for bad parent of the year, Santa, because apparently I've won that award, hands down!
Thanks for playing Heads or Tails. Check it out for yourself...

Every parent has done things like that many many, times.. myself included. I'm pretty sure your kids aren't scarred for life. =)

We used to love playing in the snow when we were kids but so quickly we would get damp cold and grumpy! And we would come running back into the house with very slushy muddy shoes and snow up our sleeves - I don't know how my parents coped!

I think every mother knows those moments. It's hard to always do the "right" thing. We get snow so rarely, three times in her first 6 years of life, that I always let mine out in it and now she is big enough to do most of the work on her own. I'm sure if we had snow on a regular basis I wouldn't have been so willing.
