Boxtops Coordinator
I volunteered to be Boxtops Coordinator for my kids' school, all the while, not having a clue what was expected. I figured I could go to their website and all would be clear. Boxtops is wonderful about helping you get your Boxtops in. I participated in a webinar a few weeks back with all the pertinent information, but I still think it doesn't hurt for me to blog about it.
So, here it is.
First of all, there is a deadline that will soon be upon us - November 1, 2011, for the fall submission and there is another deadline in the Spring - I'll have to look up the date.
If you submit your Boxtops by this deadline, your school will receive a check by December 2011!
How do you submit your Boxtops?
1) First and formost, you must register on their website as coordinator so that you can have access to the online form and all the pertinent information! This is easy to do. Go to www.boxtops4education.com/ and click the coordinators link at the top left.
From there you will have the option to upgrade to coordinator. Login (or sign-up if you're not a member) as usual, then you will see a screen that allows you to upgrade. There is a dinky little arrow inside of a pink circle under that. If you click it, it will take you to the next screen where you can sign-up to be the coordinator. You may have to call the 800 number ((800) 799-2444) in order to get your school ID. Then, type it into the form and voila! You are now the coordinator!
2) Now you must collect Boxtops from everyone you know! And clip them down to the little dotted lines. Yep, every single one, no matter how itty bitty. They must be trimmed down to size!
3) Then, you must make sure that they are not expired. I had to buy a magnifying glass, no kidding.
4)Now you must sort them in piles of 50. You can paperclip them together, use rubber bands, snack bags, whatever you can package them in, as long as you have them sorted in bundles of 50. In fact, I've started using regular ol' paper envelopes so as to be green!
There is an exception here. Bonus Boxtops and certificates do not have to be bundled and they must be accounted for separately. They are bonuses, not regular Boxtops. Just put them in a baggie all by themselves and account for them separately on the form.
5) This is important. You must fill out the form with the number of Boxtops you are submitting, your school's information, etc, etc.
6) And finally, you must mail them in. They HIGHLY suggest that you track your package. They must be Post Marked by November 1, which this year is a Tuesday, in order for your school to receive a check this year. They must be mailed to:
You may submit Boxtops at any time during the year, but checks are only issued twice a year, in the Fall and in the Spring.
This is it in a nutshell. Feel free to comment if you have questions and I will be happy to help you get answers.
Best of luck and I hope you're earning lots of free dollars for your school.
Soon I will do a similar post for Labels for Education - as soon as I figure out what the heck to do with that one!
